Creating Hand-Woven Rugs

Hand-woven rugs are also created on a loom, though weaving differs from knotting. Instead of tying knots, a shuttle is passed between raised and lowered warp threads from one side of the rug to the other. Doing this allows for the creation of various designs based on which warp threads are raised or lowered. Changing colors quickly is possible, leading to stunning designs in hand-woven rugs. These do not take quite as long as hand-knotted rugs, but they still require a significant investment of time and patience.
